Let us examine the first book of Proverbs today. Life is too complex for any individual to handle all by himself.
King Solomon talks to us as an experienced loving father. Pointing us away from the wrong paths to the right, he states the purpose and theme of proverbs, "For gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight." This is not the worldly wisdom he is talking about - rather Godly wisdom.
A key point to notice here is that, this sort of Godly wisdom is attainable by those who do not possess it. Without holding it back, he gives the secret away:
Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
If I am ignoring God's wisdom, then I am a fool.
He portrays Lady Wisdom as the most beautiful woman, calling us to follow her into her house - to the place of victory and achievement and success in life.
King Solomon has caught my attention using his introduction, and let me listen to what he has to say in those coming verses.
